Our very own Dr. Olga Alino, PhD, Executive Director and Instructor at Masters Institute of Music, recently received the Best Teacher Award of Excellence from the American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented (AADGT). AADGT is a non-profit organization located in Westchester, New York that’s dedicated to helping young and extraordinary gifted classical artists and musicians achieve national and international professional success.
About the American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented
AADGT was founded in 1993 by well-known and respected Mrs. Elena Rossman, who is now the organization’s President and Music Director. Mrs. Rossman is a classical piano professional, and her 501©3 provides support for music growth and development for young students from all over the world.
Through the AADGT, young musicians from different cultures and backgrounds can come together to explore emerging frontiers in music and celebrate their creative endeavors. The association’s work is geared toward the young generation and bringing music into more classrooms.
Dr. Olga Alino’s Background
Dr. Alino was born into a family of distinguished Russian musicians. She went on to become an accomplished pianist, winning numerous awards throughout her career in addition to the AADGT award. Her first 2 prizes were in the Russian National Piano Competition, and she earned 4 consecutive First Place awards in regional competitions.
Some of the best stages in Russia have been a backdrop for Dr. Alino’s performances, including those in Moscow, Nizhy Novgorod, Volgograd, Kursk, and Tambov, among other cities. Her solo ventures include symphony orchestras, recitals, accompanist performances and TV appearances.
Dr. Alino has been teaching piano for more than 20 years. She uses a combination of American and Russian teaching methods, providing a gentle and personal approach to enable each student to reach individual full potential. Her experience ranges from instructing kids as young as age 5 to teaching bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates. Many of Dr. Alino’s students have gone on to further their studies at prestigious universities including, Harvard, Princeton, Juilliard, the Moscow Conservatory, Gnessins’ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, and the Voronezh State Academy of Arts.
