Our Students Won First and Second Prices and Top-Tier Awards at Recent Music Competitions
We’re excited to announce to the entire Northern New Jersey community that some of our students won top prizes at recent prestigious music competitions.
Our beloved younger musicians competed in the Crescendo International Competition and the Little Mozarts competition, and 12 of them took first and second prizes.
From our advanced group, we had some amazing artists receive top-tier scores at the Chopin International Competition.
The Crescendo International Competition
The Crescendo International Competition is an annual music contest in New Jersey that also takes place from November to February in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, California, Canada, Europe and Asia.
It’s open to all instrumentalists (strings, piano and winds), ensembles, duets and vocalists from age 5 to 21. Students compete in one of three categories, depending on skill level: Junior, Intermediate and Advanced. For this competition, musicians must choose one selection from classical, baroque, romantic or modern work and it must be performed from memory.
Little Mozarts
Little Mozarts is also an annual music competition and it’s open to Junior, Intermediate and Advanced students in the instrumentalists, vocalists and duets categories.
This contest is for children between the ages of 3 and 14, and it too requires the performance of a piece by memory from any composer in the classical, baroque, romantic or modern selections.
Chopin International Piano Competition
Our advanced students traveled to Hartford, Connecticut to compete in the VII Chopin International Piano Competition. This event presented by the Connecticut Chopin Foundation was held at the Greater Hartford Arts Academy in Hartford and it included the opportunity to take part in a master class taught by Dr. Krystian Tkaczewski, internationally acclaimed professor and concert pianist.
Participants in this competition have traditionally represented 18 countries and 5 continents. Musicians who received top honors in this contest in the past have gone on to win prizes in the Busoni, Sendai, Horowitz and Bachauer competitions.
We love to see our students enjoy participating in these competitions and we’re extremely proud of their accomplishments. It’s a thrill to see them take home prestigious awards and to watch the amazing progress that all of our learners here at Masters Institute of Music show each time they’re in class.
We’d love for you to come in and see how music is celebrated in our Northern New Jersey music school. Call us or fill out our online contact form for more information about Masters.
